Well, Im a small town girl moved to the
big city. Im originally from Louisiana and move out to
California to follow the dream..to live my life as a female
bodybuilder..now I have been lifting weights since the
early age of 16 and in fact was around the time woman’s
bodybuilding was just in its infancy, when I saw my first
show on TV I said that’s gonna be me..so even though
I was fairly competent at gymnastics and competing in
that I found that when my coach had forced us girls onto
the nautilus machines..which I quickly grew tired of,
I had found my place in the universe..the gym, which is
still at times the only place that feels like home to
me.
Since
there was a lack of opportunity in the deep south for
me to compete in bodybuilding in those days..I decided
to powerlift. I had the opportunity to meet and work with
many of the greats in the sport, John Inzer, Steve Miller,
Fred Hatfield to name a few. When I saw Bev Francis..my
life for sure was forever changed..that is still the look
of appeal to me..heavily muscled..which I know goes in
and out of style but it’s a constant for me.
Okay
so lets put things in perspective..I went to college at
Louisiana Tech and had the great honor of lifting on a
team comprised of great men..one of which I share a child
with.lol ..but Coach Billy Jack Talton laid the ground
work for a injury free life in lifting. An amazing man
who helped me break records in powerlifting as a 114.
At 16 in my town after leaving the confines of the YMCA
wt. room I sought out a more hard core environment..which
I found in the form of Stars gym. Now this is really a
hard core place that the likes of Junk Yard Dog and Precious
Paul back in the day trained..Jim Star also a wrestler..so
there was never a lack of entertainment there..I lifted
as Stars 114 man on his team in powerlifting..I can remember
the first meet and he smacked me across the face at at
huge meet..i of course being a girl I cried..and had to
sit out for that life.
I
have lifted in countless powerlifting and bench press
events through out the years and in fact will go back
to my roots when I make the choice to leave bodybuilding.
I have just been blessed in finding the right folks to
help me in any circumstance of sport I have been in. I
entered my first bodybuilding show post pregnancy 12 weeks..totally
clueless but none the less on stage. I took second..I
dieted from 112 to 83 lbs..I did quite the gymnastics
performance which at that time women’s bodybuilding
was as confusing as it is now..so I just did my thing.
I stayed competing for several more years this was 1985,
I competed until I felt like I needed a change, and at
that point took up kickboxing that lead to boxing, and
I still work mitts with a trainer, Phil Garcia at Golds,
my first trainer in fighting was Richard Fatheree who
I will always love and respect and went on to Charlton
Youngs dojo and train with Big George, which led me to
Jerry Stevens, who I don’t think a day goes by that
I don’t think of him. Well Drew Leblanc had helped
me early in my career and suggested when I started training
at his gym maybe a show would be a good idea for me to
try again. I had last competed in 1993(lt wt 122 down
to 112) placing second in lt wt. training with my lifelong
friend Carl Lapourse at the Southern Classic..Drew began
helping me and in fact training as my partner to make
me a force to be reckoned with when I made my way back
in 2003 to the Southern Classic..still as a lt wt(135
down to 118) but on this day of that show..the little
girl got the prize I took first and the overall, it was
particularly important for me to do this show as the sponsors
are just the nicest of people Betty and Don Hollis…well
from there the sky seemed to be the limit. I had never
trained with a girl before so I had the great honor of
training that next year with Pro female bb Skye Ryland,
it was so amazing because she constantly pushed me. We
made it to jrs where I had said if aronld gets governor
we will move to ca…if a bodybuilder could be a governor
that’s a place I wanted to be.
So
in June of 2004 even though I suffered from intractable
vomiting and had to go get three bags of fluid..jrs changed
my life, I started to shoot and get some coverage..and
off to callie my 18 year old daughter my small dog and
me came. I didn’t have a job had 500 bucks borrowed
500 bucks and stopped in palm springs..it looks a lot
closer to la then it is. On the map.i came to meet charles
glass to tell me if I had what it took..well the first
weekend we drove to golds in Venice, and charles approached
me to comment on my legs and calves..he said he would
train me, and outside I went to sob..a dream had come
true. I drove 5 days a week from plam springs (90 miles)
worked night shift in an level 2 er and trained..walked
talked and lived bodybuilding.
When
nationals that year got close I had to move closer for
2 a day work..well I couldn’t afford a apartment
so Aubrey stayed in palm springs and I moved into a 26
foot burned out boat in the marina..hey it was 5 min.
form the gym, I was liven large. I lived there until right
before nationals and Aubrey joined me in an efficiency.
Well almost three years into now and numerous events have
happened some good some bad, I quit nursing well over
a year ago and now do live my life as a female bodybuilder,
I train a great group of folks who I will feature on my
site, most compete in figure, have been in tv, commercial,
and movie work. I am training for masters nationals in
the summer I took second in (165 down to 125) mwt last
year and charles is still training me, he now is my business
partner and we opened our suit line for cb suits in 2005
at the Olympia..
in
2004 I couldn’t afford tickets to the Olympia got
towed and ended with nose bleed seats, in 2005 we bounced
in with a crew of six, had a booth and were in the front
rows..yeah the difference a year can make right. I have
made dear friends since I have been here and have had
the worlds best help me, and advise me. I have the ever
enduring support of my mom, who thinks im a professional
wrestler like my aunt Janie was, my sisters, my nephew
david, his wife and child Jessie and Shelby, and an entire
group I call my circle of love. If not for the recent
kindness of my dear friend Will Harris.Ifbb pro and Robert
M. I think I would have tucked tail and run home, in the
year 2006 I had identity theft, got car jacked, had tax
fraud, and other types of crime..big city small town girl,
but I still see the dream and will stay and follow it..i
get up every day and go to the mecca of bodybuilding train
clients and work around and with all the worlds best.
Currently
I do nutritional programming world wide and routine choreography,
I train clients online and onsite, I do live webcam shows
for FT Video and cant thank James and Gene of that site
enough. Andy from Andys muscle goddess, Tomnine, and all

me to write for his new magazine about bodybuilding..I
